Regional Cargo Ferry to begin operations soon, says Guyana’s President

The regional cargo ferry service in the southern Caribbean involving Guyana, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago is growing closer to its launch date.

President of Guyana, Dr Ifraan Ali, during an address on Saturday at the XII Annual Consultation with Caribbean Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank, said within the next two to three months, the ferry will begin operations.

President Ali told the gathering he hopes it can be even sooner than that.

It was recently stated that the shipping asset will allow the movement of containers and the movement of passengers (a ferry service) as a test to prove the model that investment in the regional transport infrastructure is not only key and critical but can be profitable.
