Your Excellency Madam Secretary General:
I have the honor to address Your Excellency and, through your Excellency, the representatives of the Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), in order to extend my warmest congratulations on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas, which marked the establishment of this remarkable Organization.
On this significant date, I would like to express Peru’s keen commitment in continuing strengthening ties with CARICOM nations, based on common values and broad coincidences on issues of particular interest within the region. In this context, I would like to particularly mention the recent accreditation of Ambassador David Malaga Ego-Aguirre as the first Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Peru to the Organization, which took place on November 23rd, 2022.
Additionally, I would like to reaffirm the Peruvian Government´s willingness to promote political dialogue and development cooperation with CARICOM, particularly in the current special international context which calls us to intensify collaboration in our region. Rest assured that Peru is a fully determined partner, ready to continue working towards the well-being of our populations and the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Lastly, I would like to convey my sincere wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the Caribbean countries, as I avail myself of this opportunity to renew Your Excellency the assurances of my highest consideration.
