The CARICOM Triennial Award for Women was established in 1984.  With this Award, our community honours Caribbean women who, through their leadership, have made a particular contribution to the socioeconomic and sociocultural development of women in the Region and of Caribbean people as a whole.

This award takes the form of a 15-carat gold pin inscribed with the interlocking Cs of our Community’s logo.  Accompanying the pin is a scroll encased in a leather pouch.

Seek our strength in unity

"..we look forward to a wider future in which there are enormous possibilities that must not be seen as restricted in the run of history to those that speak English alone, but rather a future that I think is there for those who share the occupation of a region and a joint commitment to human progress. And I’ll remind everybody who is here that this path that we are taking today is a path that the Third World and countries of the Third World must pursue. We must seek our strength in our unity and then we must dedicate that strength to the building of a new life of opportunity and security for our people."

– PM Michael Manley, Jamaica, signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas, Trinidad and Tobago, 4 July 1973
